Summary Provides work direction and training to Hatchery associates, monitoring equipment functions, maintaining the best possible environment for hatching the healthiest, highest quality chicks for placement with company growers.
This position has a base rate of $25.00 per hour, with opportunities for pay premiums, shift differentials and overtime where applicable. Annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Monitors operations of egg setters and hatchers, ensuring consistent proper temperature and humidity levels are maintained.
Conducts and records machine checks every three hours.
Identifies and resolves common equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.
Coordinates receipt of nightly eff shipments and verifies accuracy of shipping documentation.
Arranges flocks within the eff room to facilitate identification and movement at required set times.
Reloads eff truck with filled buggies.
Ensures the eff room is cleaned and disinfected weekly or as required and prepares the set sheet ensuring proper eff rotation based on eff pack dates.
Coordinates setting of eff buggies nightly, transferring from farm buggies to setter racks, and prepares hatchery for daily processing.
Coordinates padding of chick boxes nightly, ensures trash is emptied, starts the boiler, loads the box de‑stacker, and moves empty eff buggies from tray wash room to hatch halls.
Co‑ordinates and performs salmonella intervention, pouring formaldehyde in hatchers at designated intervals following transfer, and oversees and performs hatchery disinfection, ensuring all set and hatch halls are fogged nightly.
Operates the try wash machine, washing chick boxes weekly or as required.
High school education or equivalent.
Experience Preferred
High school and 1 year experience in hatchery processing.
Some basic mechanical/electrical knowledge.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Exposed to temperatures ranging from 60 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit and humidities up to 100%.
Exposed to chemicals, droplets and vaccines covered in MSDS training and hazardous communications.
Use personal protective equipment as required.
Ability to lift 4 lbs. to a height of 6 feet, push 75 lbs. a distance of 75 feet and lift 20–25 lbs. to a height of 3 feet.
Must be able to work in a wet, damp, dusty (chick down) environment.
