This senior-level position focuses on maintaining and developing Apex’s municipal services for public and private clients in North Dakota. The Leader manages and grows the municipal services sector, develops short- and long-term revenue goals, monitors project budgets, recruits key staff, and pursues new project and client opportunities. The Leader reports directly to the Municipal Sector Leader and attends in-person meetings with key municipal engineers and operations personnel. The Leader promotes the company through industry-specific professional organizations.
Essential Tasks and Duties:
Manage all aspects of client relationships and discuss potential project opportunities, details of RFPs, and contract reviews.
Establish and maintain key strategic partnerships to win work and deliver quality municipal and infrastructure design and construction services.
Collaborate with other sector leaders within the company regarding pursuits and staffing.
Follow and maintain strategic plan initiatives and goals for the ND municipal sector and the company.
Demonstrate strong ability to mentor project engineers in contract development, project profitability, and risk management.
Participate in business development and marketing activities related to municipal services with potential new and existing clients.
Attend appropriate conferences and professional seminars to further Apex’s mission to grow ND municipal services.
Coordinate and direct project pursuit efforts by prospecting, positioning, proposing, and performing projects that have significant impact on sector revenue.
Participate in municipal leadership team meetings.
Hire and recruit strategic positions that meet company or sector growth goals.
Utilize effective communication skills required in public meetings and professional seminars.
Provide Municipal Sector Leader with financial and progress reports on ND municipal related operations.
Keep abreast of the latest civil engineering technical advancements, technology, and concepts in the ND market and make recommendations to the Municipal Sector Leader.
Understand and follow company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner with strong attention to detail.
Work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.
Travel and out-of-town stays may be required.
This position may frequently require more than 40-hour work weeks.

Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, with 10+ years of municipal engineering experience and a minimum of 7 years project management experience, predominantly in ND.
A licensed engineer to practice engineering within the State of ND.
Experience and working knowledge preferred in municipal engineering, construction, and public works/utilities in ND.
Experience with developing business and managing personnel in the consulting engineering industry is preferred.
Involvement in appropriate professional organizations beneficial to Apex and the municipal sector.
Proficient using Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
A valid driver’s license is required or the ability to obtain one.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
Must clearly articulate verbal and written communications.
Required to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
May require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform typical tasks and duties.
Must work required and scheduled hours.
