Material Planner 2 – Gulfstream Aerospace
Location: St. Louis, MO
We’re seeking a skilled Material Planner 2 to support our Production and Completions processes. Under limited supervision you will plan material requirements, maintain planning data, and coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Establish material requirements consistent with production rates, supplier lead times, and corporate inventory objectives.
Maintain accurate data for planning and supply chain elements, ensuring service levels and lead times are met.
Initiate purchase requisitions and orders for new items and reorder points.
Coordinate with Product Support, Manufacturing Engineering, In‑House Shops, and Purchasing to expedite parts for operations and customer support.
Analyze shortage situations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Monitor excess inventory, determine disposition, and maintain part tracking.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and customer service reports.
Generate replenishment schedules and coverage analyses for buyers/planners and communicate changes.
Train, develop, and mentor Junior Material Planners.
Identify components with high demand variability, analyze alternatives, and recommend improvements.
Follow safety, 6S, and quality requirements in all duties.
Apply lean manufacturing techniques to optimize inventory and in‑stock material.
Resolve issues to maximize customer service at lowest cost.
Collaborate with personnel across departments to expedite and coordinate parts.
Develop a deep understanding of Gulfstream Materials processes and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Materials Management, Operations Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
2 years related experience in manufacturing and materials planning or inventory management.
Advanced analytical and Excel skills.
Proficient PC skills with Microsoft Windows and Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with SAP is desirable.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Additional Requirements
Understanding of automated systems and an ability to operate personal computers.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
