Associate Scientist, Pilot Plant Bristol Myers Squibb invites you to join our team as an Associate Scientist in the Pilot Plant, working in Devens, MA.

Position Overview The Associate Scientist will scale‑up and execute upstream and downstream processes within the Biologics Development program portfolio, collaborating with Process Development and manufacturing teams to deliver robust, scalable, and economical processes for clinical and commercial supply.

Key Responsibilities

Execute non‑GMP Pilot Scale Lab Operations in accordance with work instructions and SOPs.

Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to safety protocols.

Set up and run wave bioreactors, bioreactors, chromatography and filtration, submit samples, prepare media/buffer, and monitor/troubleshoot runs.

Prepare and review technical documents such as campaign summary reports, batch records, and SOPs.

Introduce, evaluate, and implement innovative process technologies.

Participate in cross‑functional teams supporting process investigations, scale‑up, and tech transfer to clinical and commercial manufacturing.

Track scale‑up data performance against bench‑scale to assist Process Development teams.

Support digital and automation initiatives within the department.

Qualifications

B.S. or M.S. in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related biologics fields.

2–4 years of industry experience in Process Development, Pilot Operations, GMP manufacturing or related field.

Strong knowledge of downstream process development and unit operations, including chromatography and filtration.

Strong knowledge of upstream process development and unit operations, including cell culture, mammalian bioreactors, and harvest.

Experience with single‑use manufacturing and automation (plus). Working knowledge of cGMP (plus). Knowledge of automation, statistics, design of experiment, and data analysis (plus).

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Compensation Overview Devens, MA — US $89,330 – $108,243 (starting range). Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available. Final pay will be based on demonstrated experience.
