Duties, Responsibilities & Other The Project Manager V position is the entry‑level role within KCI’s Energy Project Management career path, designed for individuals developing their project management expertise. This role involves managing smaller‑scale projects with limited subconsultants and scope, serving as a foundational opportunity for learning and growth under the guidance of senior Project Managers.
Manage all aspects of the project(s), including technical staff, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Develop and communicate the Project Management Plan, outlining objectives, scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, and safety protocols.
Develop project‑specific scope of work and contract documents in compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
Maintain project schedules, proactively identifying and addressing potential delays or conflicts.
Monitor project budgets and expenditures, implementing cost‑control measures to remain within budgetary constraints.
Uphold high‑quality standards through quality assurance processes and adherence to industry and project specifications.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, maintaining open communication and addressing concerns promptly.
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and project team members to drive project success and foster a collaborative environment.
Actively manage the project for compliance with contract scope, schedule, and fees, including change orders.
Allocate resources efficiently, ensuring adequate staffing and equipment.
Identify, assess, and manage project risks, developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
Mentor less experienced staff and comply with all KCI policies and procedures.
Negotiate contract terms, scope, and fees with clients/subconsultants.
Prepare and submit monthly project completion and progress reports; manage project cash and working capital.
Participate in project opportunity evaluation, consultant selection, and proposal development.
Conduct site visits, gather data, and prepare deliverables for approval.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (AEC Industry) and a minimum of 2 years of related professional experience, or 6 years of equivalent experience.
Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.
Participation in continuing education and professional development programs.
Potential leadership abilities to inspire and motivate project teams.
Organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
Technical knowledge in the specific field of the project.
Knowledge of project management software and tools to develop and maintain comprehensive plans and documentation.
Understanding of industry standards, best practices, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to implement effective solutions in a fast‑paced environment.
Negotiation skills to manage contracts, scope changes, and stakeholder agreements.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations Required
Successful completion of the KCI PM Training and Contract Training for current employees, or ability to complete within six months for new hires.
Pre‑employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
