The Quality Specialist is primarily responsible for leading and supporting projects initiated in the Commercial Test Lab and supported business units. This role builds on the core lab technician skill set by adding analytical and team‑leadership capabilities, connecting lab data trends to manufacturing improvements. Key focus areas include improving methods and measures through measurement‑system analysis and the creation of high‑impact training materials. Essential Duties

Informal Team Leader for Commercial Test Lab technicians. Lead safety activities and maintain a safe, neat work area at all times; plan and manage 5S activities. Assist with New Product Development (NPD) trials and PTR’s related to product improvement, process improvement, and variation reduction. Conduct full finished product and raw material evaluations via analytical testing. Perform full competitive product analysis testing, product breakdowns, and assist with report preparation. Support the development of new and/or revised test methods and conduct measurement capability studies as requested. Support testing for regulatory agencies (travel to plants and agencies as needed). Support production training for test methods or create media training materials, possibly with Vuforia headset or similar technology. Analyze lab and/or plant data for trends and develop/executed improvement plans for products/plants, focusing on methods and measures. Assist in ensuring alignment between all systems and documentation – Finished Product Specs, Batch Sheets/Run Cards, TDS, Website, marketing material, Code approvals, etc. Participate in internal plant audits, QSBP audit, and supplier audits when necessary. Conduct product code compliance and qualification testing for regulatory agencies (e.g., UL FUS). Support the development of new and/or revised testing methods, including new and existing equipment evaluations and measurement capability studies. Assist with PTR’s and conduct post‑trial product evaluations for Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Process, Project Engineering, and R&D in support of NPD, strategic projects, product improvement, process improvement, and variation reduction. Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) preferably in Engineering, Chemistry, Science or Math with 1+ year in quality or manufacturing OR Associate’s Degree (AA) or AS/AA in Engineering, Chemistry, Science or Math with 3+ years in quality or manufacturing Experience with the development of analytical procedures – required. Experience with physical property or analytical testing and related equipment – required. General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated support for behavioral‑based safety and compliance of accompanying procedures Intermediate laboratory and analytical skills Intermediate knowledge of ASTM and its testing methods Entry‑level knowledge of databases (e.g., WinSPC, QualTrend, Excel) Intermediate knowledge of manufacturing processes (roofing preferred) Intermediate knowledge of Process/Continuous Improvement techniques including auditing, Statistical Process Control, variation reduction, and Root Cause Analysis Familiar with standard GAF tools and practices Intermediate knowledge and capability to submit and manage TDNs and RCNs Base Salary Range: $64,000–$88,000 We believe our employees are our greatest resource.
