Major Purpose
Supports and may lead a commodity Strategic Sourcing team with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies for enterprise/region/division/unit. Builds and develops a supply base for procuring less complex and strategic materials, products, supplies and services. Responsible for quality, delivery, supplier performance and establishing appropriate material replenishment process. Coordinates and leads efforts to address chronic supplier performance issues and/or validation of suppliers during the early supplier selection process as part of Enterprise Product Delivery Process (PDP). Facilitates the quality planning activities with suppliers.
Major Duties
Execute, in a supply chain of low complexity, planning activities within a defined framework/system that mainly affect own organization/unit.
Carry out a range of supplier management activities either to support others or to fulfill the requirements of the role.
Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents.
Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes. Implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives and monitor them to make sure they are effective.
Contribute to reviewing existing operations in own area of work, and generate new ideas to assist in identifying continuous improvements.
Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards. Obtain authorization from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions from mandatory procedure.
Resolve complex queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on policies and/or procedures, referring the most complex issues to others.
Produce, update, and provide best practice support on complex Microsoft documents, databases, and other departmental systems, advising colleagues as needed and using expertise to help improve processes.

As a Continuous Improvement Supply Mgmt Specialist
Establish & execute multi-year cost reduction and resiliency plan for assigned commodities to support cost reduction ambitions for Des Moines
Work cross-functionally to lead cost reduction initiatives; Generate ideas/concepts, gain stakeholder alignment and lead project execution.
Manage and coordinate execution of cost, critical resourcing, and risk mitigation projects to improve supplier diversification, supply base resilience & cost performance.
Leverage project management tools & processes, as well as Engineering Change Management (ECM) process to ensure design, sourcing and product improvements are implemented in a timely and cost-effective manner.
