Subcontractor Experience Required
Position Overview:
A well‑established commercial drywall and specialty finishes subcontractor in the DFW market is seeking an
Estimator or Senior Estimator
to support preconstruction and bidding efforts across diverse interior and exterior finish projects. This role requires direct subcontractor‑side estimating experience in commercial drywall, acoustical ceilings, EIFS, stucco, and related scopes. Candidates with general contractor‑only estimating backgrounds will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed takeoffs and estimates for commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, EIFS, stucco, and related finishes
Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to accurately define scope and pricing
Solicit, analyze, and level material and vendor pricing
Develop complete and competitive bid proposals for general contractors and ownership groups
Participate in scope reviews, value engineering discussions, and bid clarifications
Collaborate with project management and operations teams to ensure smooth handoff from preconstruction to execution
Maintain historical cost data and productivity benchmarks
Assist with change order pricing as needed
Track bid schedules and ensure timely submission of proposals
Required Qualifications (Non‑Negotiable):
3+ years of estimating experience with a commercial drywall and specialty finishes subcontractor
Hands‑on estimating experience for drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, EIFS, stucco, and related scopes
Strong understanding of subcontractor pricing, labor productivity, and material procurement
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and subcontract scopes
Experience bidding multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment
Not a Fit If:
Estimating experience limited to general contractor roles only
Preferred (Not Required):
Senior‑level estimating experience with bid leadership responsibility
Experience bidding DFW‑area projects such as healthcare, education, multifamily, hospitality, office, industrial, or large commercial developments
Familiarity with estimating software and digital takeoff tools
Competitive DFW‑market base salary (commensurate with estimator or senior estimator level)
