Responsibilities The primary focus will be Planning and Production Control for the on‑site X83 Newport News Shipbuilding Field office at Electric Boat, Groton, CT. The role coordinates planning and material management for Columbia and Virginia‑class submarines across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, structural, sheet metal, piping). The planner prepares, issues, and controls production schedules, coordinates material requirements and ensures a controlled flow of approved materials. The planner advises management of work‑in‑progress status, material availability, and potential production issues. Tasks include scheduling equipment and personnel, confirming material supply, preparing work orders or purchase requests for production or purchase of components, and shipping of parts via move orders, stock transfers, or shipping requests.

Qualifications – Must Have Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 1 year of relevant professional experience.

NNS Apprentice School graduate

Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate

Associate’s Degree or formal 2‑year program with 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non‑exempt experience

Military Paygrade E‑5 or above military experience

High School/GED and 4 years combined of manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience or other relevant exempt experience

High School/GED and 8 years combined of manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience or other relevant non‑exempt experience

Nice to Have Exposure to network scheduling techniques is highly preferred. Candidates should possess a well‑rounded knowledge of company operations, production processes, shop processes, ship systems, network scheduling principles, planning methods, and the Planning Notice of Design Change process as defined in procedure SSP P‑1086. The individual will work closely with the Program Office, NNS Planning and Production Control, Construction Project and the Shipboard Trades. Good communication and teamwork skills are required. The incumbent will utilize Microsoft Office Products, SAP, Artemis, and Teamcenter/NX.
