Structure Tone, part of the STO Building Group family of Companies, is looking to hire an experienced Estimator with a focus on commercial interiors. As an Estimator at STO you will be a critical member of our estimating team, responsible for preparing comprehensive and competitive estimates for a wide range of interior construction projects in the New York City market. You will work closely with client project managers, clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate pricing and successful project delivery. The Estimator will be responsible for budgeting, bidding, leveling, and assisting in the awarding a diverse set of projects; continuing to support the project team throughout all phases of construction. Responsibilities
Manage the estimating process on assigned projects totaling $5M - $100M per year.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for interior construction projects, including tenant fit‑outs, and renovations, all ranging in size and complexity.
Possess the ability to perform detailed budgets through the evolution of the design documents, inclusive of architectural, structural, and MEPS trades.
Review and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and other project documents to identify scope, materials, and labor requirements.
Compile thorough analysis sheets for subcontractor review during the level bid process.
Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and scope coverage.
Complete subcontractor bid review and descope, ensuring conformance to project specifications, code requirements, material quality, project schedule, site logistics, insurance, and related items.
Analyze project risks and opportunities, providing value engineering suggestions when appropriate. Identify items that have been omitted and ensure a complete estimate is provided to the client, enabling them to meet their financial objectives.
Manage project kickoff and closeout meetings to ensure a smooth transition of information across the estimating, engineering, accounting, and operations teams.
Maintain engagement from bid phase through project completion for RFIs, change management, ticket pricing and subcontract execution.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers and team members alike.
Attend client meetings, engage with and resolve issues regarding pricing and/or estimates, participate in value engineering exercises as needed, obtaining client approval and signoff.
Participate in team collaboration and development, enhancing the potential growth for both individual team members and the entire estimating department.
Qualifications
BS, BA, or relevant construction experience preferred. Preferred areas of study include construction management, engineering, or architecture.
5+ years of experience in estimating, purchasing, and related duties.
Requires excellent computer skills (MS Office/Excel).
Must be willing to report daily to our Manhattan office.
Salary Range
Desired salary range $130,000-$180,000
Eligible for discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
