Senior Project Manager – Transportation Oversee a project‑management team and drive the delivery of transportation projects across the Southeast. Lead business development, client relationships, and resource management while mentoring teams and fostering continuous learning.

POSITION OVERVIEW As a Sr. Project Manager at LJA Transportation, you will manage schedules, budgets, and resources, build client relationships to grow the business, and mentor your team to ensure success is recognized and rewarded. You will also drive the strategic growth of LJA’s roadway practice through pursuit leadership and technical excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Win work and lead the strategic growth of LJA’s roadway practice through business development, client engagement, and pursuit leadership.

Oversee the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and highway projects with a focus on technical excellence and client satisfaction.

Manage project resources, schedules, and budgets at a program level to ensure efficiency, profitability, and quality.

Inspire and mentor project teams, promoting professional growth, innovation, and a shared commitment to excellence in transportation design.

Develop business in Tennessee, Alabama, and other Southeast states for ITS/TSMO/TIM design, operations, program management, and CEI opportunities.

Build and/or leverage strong connections with TDOT and NDOT for opportunities in the local Tennessee market.

Assist southeast state leads to build a strong ITS/Traffic presence in the region and use your network to identify key hire potentials.

Serve as technical lead on ITS/Traffic/Technology projects as needed in Tennessee and the Southeast region.

Identify teaming partners (consultants, universities, etc.) for pursuits in Tennessee and the Southeast region.

Act as a trusted advisor to clients and agencies, strengthening partnerships and identifying opportunities for future collaboration.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Proven project management experience handling multiple deadlines and budgets.

Effective communication skills to engage with clients, agencies, stakeholders, and employees, fostering strong relationships.

IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE

Track record of winning TDOT work.

Track record of County and Municipal wins.

Previous work experience in an AEC‑related firm.
