Quality Inspector (Transformer or Heavy Manufacturing Exp Req, Relo Assistance Avail) Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking a Quality Inspector to add to their team near Fayetteville, NC. In this role, you will conduct in-process and final inspections across winding, assembly, fabrication, and finishing operations while monitoring quality gates, verifying documentation, and partnering with production and engineering to resolve issues quickly. The ideal candidate brings transformer manufacturing experience OR quality experience in a related heavy manufacturing industry. Seasoned machine operators or team leaders in the transformer industry who want to transition into a career in quality are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Ensure all components, subassemblies, and final assemblies meet quality requirements.

Allocate approximately 60% time on the floor and 40% on documentation, verification, and follow-up.

Inspect incoming parts, in-process builds, and finished transformers to drawings/specs.

Monitor quality gates across winding, assembly, fabrication, and finishing areas.

Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical specifications.

Perform electrical and mechanical inspections, including dimensional and torque checks.

Verify quality control sheets are complete and required records are retained.

Review the nonconformance log and track corrective and preventive actions.

Document inspection results with clear, accurate, and traceable entries.

Escalate nonconformances and partner with production and engineering to resolve issues.

Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, customer specifications, and internal procedures.

Participate in root cause analysis, problem‑solving, and continuous improvement efforts.

Calibrate, maintain, and properly use gauges, meters, and inspection/test equipment.

Qualifications

3+ years of transformer manufacturing experience OR 3+ years of quality experience in heavy manufacturing.

Working knowledge of ISO 9000 quality systems.

Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics.

Ability to work 100% on‑site.
