Buyer‑Planner (Legrand, North America) Legrand is hiring a Buyer‑Planner to join its Data, Power, and Control Team in Reno, NV. The role reports to the North American Planning and Purchasing Manager and focuses on creating, reviewing, amending, and maintaining effective production schedules for assigned products and product families with selected Contract Manufacturers, Original Component Manufacturers, and Distributors.

Main Responsibilities

Coordinate with Contract Manufacturers, Original Component Manufacturers, and authorized Distributors to order and schedule components, finished goods, and subassemblies, set priorities, communicate component issues, and serve as a liaison for the Power, Access, and Control Business Unit.

Manage and maintain inventory levels to ensure an uninterrupted supply of parts while keeping optimal inventory levels and meeting target inventory turns.

Maintain material master records for planning data in SAP.

Create production schedules, provide schedules to best utilize manufacturing labor, and facilitate daily production meetings.

Develop and prioritize production schedules to meet sales order shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.

Analyze forecasted demand to ensure buffer profiles and strategic inventory levels on components and finished goods are maintained.

Communicate and coordinate with production supervisors and purchasing teams to ensure schedule adherence and recover if required; attend daily production planning meetings to convey production schedules to manufacturing.

Provide regular updates to customer service teams to meet or exceed customer expectations and establish effective relationships.

Track production orders, investigate factors that affect schedules, and modify plans as necessary.

Expedite critical orders throughout the supply chain.

Inform management of potential production problems and assist in short- and long‑term solutions.

Maintain internal electronic communication (chatter) on open customer opportunities.

Initiate and participate in continuous improvement activities related to production planning, customer service, and inventory management.

Perform planning functions required for the successful launch of new products, and participate in new product development teams as assigned.

Actively participate in ongoing cost‑reduction efforts.

Develop and process planning bills of material.

Participate in internal and external audits.

Maintain a clean and safe workplace.

Display original thinking, creativity, and resourcefulness; generate suggestions for improving work and developing innovative approaches.

Demonstrate willingness to make decisions, exhibit sound judgment, and support decisions in an inclusive process.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university with an emphasis in Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of related experience in supply chain functions, preferably in planning, purchasing, or scheduling in a manufacturing environment. APICS Basic Certification or in the process of obtaining is preferred.

Skills & Knowledge:

Knowledge of Demand Driven Material Requirements Planning (DDMRP); certification preferred.

Project management skills (planning, organizing, coordinating tasks).

Computer proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office; experience with Salesforce.com preferred.

Ability to develop and maintain reporting for planning functions and present to senior leadership.

Effective oral and written communication across multiple groups.

Time‑management skills and customer‑service orientation.

Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to work independently.

Work Environment & Physical Demands The work environment is fast‑paced; priorities can shift quickly. The employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb stairs/ladder, balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift up to ten (10) pounds and rarely lift up to forty (40) pounds.
