POSITION SUMMARY Through the Targa Developmental Technician Program, the Developmental Technician will learn skilled work related to the natural gas plant operations. The position will have classroom and hands‑on training, as well as perform as a Plant Operations Developmental Technician. Upon successful completion within the program, this group will act as a feeder to our higher‑level Plant Operations positions.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Review and grasp plant operation/processes for optimizing quality and production of products meeting required data specifications.
Assist with routine shutdowns and startup of equipment and perform emergency procedures when required.
Gain knowledge of Natural Gas Characteristics and Gas Plant Operations.
Acquire necessary skills to fill out applicable work/hot work permits, lockout/tagout documentation, attend and participate in tailgate sessions with others involved in work site activities.
Knowledge of one's work and how it will affect other co‑workers in the plant and field operations.
Follow Targa’s Safety Policies, Procedures, and Business Ethics Policies.
Plan and perform all assignments in a safe manner by utilizing the proper tools, safety and environmental precautions, permitting, and Process Safety Management.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Maintain a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record satisfactory to the company
Interpersonal communication skills to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors
An organized and detail‑oriented self‑starter with a strong work ethic
Ability to work self‑sufficiently given direction and resources
Well‑grounded, preferring to work in a collegial and team environment
Ability to think critically, solve problems independently, and exercise excellent judgment and common sense
Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office Software
Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call‑outs as needed to fulfill business objectives, and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditions.
Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs.
Ability to work in changing climate conditions.
Able to work in close quarters: e.g., kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.
Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment guidelines (e.g., eye protection, footwear, Nomex).
The schedule will consist of 12‑hour day/night rotating shifts and will require some weekends and holidays to be worked.
Regular and reliable attendance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in a technical discipline
Gas Plant/Pipeline/Field related experience
0‑3 years of professional experience
