is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused professional to support the efficient operation of the Hampton Coliseum and Hampton Arts Box Offices. The

Assistant Box Office Manager

performs a variety of administrative, general accounting, and technical duties essential to daily box office operations and provides day-to-day supervision of staff to ensure exceptional customer service for patrons. In the absence of the Box Office Manager, this role assumes responsibility for box office operations, including cash handling, reporting, and problem resolution. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced, event-driven environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Sports Management, or a closely related field of study preferred.

One (1) year of full-time supervisory experience, preferably in an assistant manager capacity.

One (1) year of experience in an arena, theatre, or stadium box office operation is preferred.

A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.

Must successfully pass a background check before any offer of employment or promotion.

Additional Requirements

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of bookkeeping, ticket control, financial management, and general office principles; experience in personnel management.

Proficiency in using a personal computer and knowledge of various software, including Microsoft Office, Ticketmaster (preferred), or other ticketing software platforms.

Must be eligible to be bonded.

Must have certification in Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management (TEAM) training or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Requires work beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requires working from multiple department venues.

The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergencies or at the direction of the City Manager, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
