to help lead our Youth Residential Shelter Program and support our mission of providing safety, stability, and hope to at‑risk youth. About The Role The

Assistant Program Coordinator

plays a critical leadership role by supporting daily operations, supervising direct care staff, ensuring high‑quality residential services, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment for youth. This position works closely with the Program Coordinator and Executive Director and serves as a key liaison between leadership, caregivers, and clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee behavior management, crisis response, documentation compliance, staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and training while modeling professionalism and trauma‑informed care.

Support the overall operation of therapeutic group/shelter care services and monitor behavior management plans.

Coordinate medical and dental services in collaboration with the Registered Nurse.

Supervise and guide direct care staff, providing coaching, evaluations, and corrective action when needed; ensure proper staffing levels and oversee weekly scheduling.

Process payroll timesheets and ensure timely incident reporting in accordance with agency and state guidelines.

Maintain a calm, professional presence during stressful situations and respond to clinical emergencies.

Oversee program logs, staff documentation, and HRIS entries; maintain compliance with state laws, Medicaid guidelines, and agency policies.

Respond to internal/external inquiries within 24 hours and keep communications clear and consistent.

Participate in interviewing prospective employees and coordinate onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training; facilitate monthly supervision and mandatory staff meetings.

Serve as primary liaison for staff, leadership, and external partners; represent Avidity professionally within the community.

Assist with outings and client activities; oversee facility safety, including center and alarm systems.

Support agency operations during hurricanes, pandemics, or other emergencies; perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Special Education, or a related field.

Minimum of 4 years of experience working with at‑risk youth in residential, behavioral health, or therapeutic settings.

Master’s degree preferred.

Skills & Requirements

Strong leadership, communication, and crisis management skills.

Ability to supervise staff and create a trauma‑informed, supportive environment.

Knowledge of youth behavioral health, residential care operations, and systemic approaches to trauma.

Computer proficiency (email, online applications, HRIS systems).

Valid Florida driver’s license with required insurance limits (10/20/10) and clean driving record (≤ 6 points).

Ability to pass all criminal background checks and complete annual training.
