HDR is seeking an experienced Project Development Project Manager to join our Michigan‑based Power Generation team. The role supports power and energy projects across the industrial, institutional, municipal, independent power producer (IPP), and utility sectors. This seller‑doer will maintain client relationships, develop strategy, plan and monitor projects, and lead multi‑discipline teams to successful completion.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain positive, proactive client relationships.
Achieve project schedule, quality, and profitability goals.
Serve as proposal champion/manager: prepare proposals, review contract terms, evaluate risks.
Provide daily leadership to the project team and technical staff in completing project activities.
Communicate and coordinate within the project team and with the client to align expectations and ensure deliverable quality.
Monitor budget and schedule; develop recovery plans for potential shortfalls.
Track scope changes and manage the contracted scope of work.
Train and mentor project team staff on project management and consulting issues.
Perform design or consulting work in the manager’s engineering area of expertise.
Report project progress to accounting and operations teams on a routine basis.
Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
PMP certification.
Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.
Demonstrated business development and strategic planning skills.
Good communication, leadership, planning and mentoring skills.
Excellent organizational, project management, and written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe, and other relevant software.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
7 years of related experience.
Minimum 2 years of project management experience.
Professional engineering license (e.g., PE or P.Eng) recognized in Michigan.
MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience a plus).
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Commitment to an employee‑owned culture.
Location : United States – Michigan – Ann Arbor (Primary). Alternate location: Lansing.
Schedule : Full‑time.
