Overview
Crop Utility Specialist – Three Rivers FS – Elkader, IA. The role involves assisting in daily operational duties at the facility, operating sprayers or floaters for applying crop inputs, and operating and maintaining trucks and other equipment to support customer needs and company profitability. Responsibilities
Maintain operations at the retail supply location and follow the maintenance schedule of facility and equipment. Inventory and distribution of products and delivery of customer products as requested. Stock and move warehouse product and material, load/unload containers, pallets, or materials safely on/off trucks, trailers, or railcars while ensuring proper balance and axle weights. Assist both full-time and part-time operations personnel. Assist Crop Specialists and Precision Farming Team with installations, data, mapping, and other internal and external customer needs. Maintain the facility and equipment image; assist in achieving goals by improving efficiency and reducing costs. Work with the location manager on safety and compliance issues and demonstrate knowledge to safely operate sprayers, floaters, and other equipment to meet company and DOT standards. Performs and records daily safety checks of assigned vehicle(s) and equipment (pre-trip inspections, fuel and oil levels, tires, lights, brakes). Ensure all products are accounted for with either an invoice or delivery ticket. Maintain, repair, rebuild, and/or service location equipment, vehicles, and structures as needed. Inspect and service anhydrous tool bars; perform pre-season and post-season service including hose replacement, valve inspection, leak checks, and calibration. Prepare and operate weigh wagons for field testing and calibration; assist agronomy and sales teams with yield measurement and verification. Assist with anhydrous ammonia operations during the season (setup, filling, safe handling) and perform regular maintenance to ensure safety compliance; participate in loading, unloading, and transporting anhydrous ammonia equipment per safety protocols. Pre-season setup and post-season winterization of applicators, sprayers, tool bars, and related machinery; ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and storage to minimize downtime. Troubleshoot mechanical issues, perform routine service tasks, coordinate with service teams for major repairs; maintain accurate maintenance records for all assigned equipment. Assist customers with product loading, equipment setup, and operational questions; represent Three Rivers FS with professionalism and customer-service focus. Follow Three Rivers Company Policies, GROWMARK Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures as applicable. Note: Supervisory responsibilities are not formally assigned at this level; personnel are responsible for their own work and may train new employees as needed. Qualifications
Normally requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and 0–2 years of related work experience. Must be able to acquire and maintain a Class A CDL with required endorsements, a satisfactory driving record, and a valid medical card. Must be able to hold and maintain all required pesticide or fertilizer applicator licenses/certifications in states where crop inputs are applied; renew as required and report status to the Location Manager. Ability to work extended hours and on-call as business conditions warrant. Occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions, noisy environments, dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards; may require working at varying heights and lifting 51–70 lbs.
