Overview We are a growing U.S.-based customs brokerage and logistics company specializing in compliant, efficient import operations. We work closely with importers, carriers, and U.S. government agencies to ensure smooth clearance of a wide range of commodities, with a strong focus on food, FDA-regulated, and consumer products.
Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Customs Brokerage Specialist with strong knowledge of FDA, food, and regulated imports. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end customs clearance, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), FDA, and other Partner Government Agencies (PGAs). The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable handling time-sensitive shipments where compliance and accuracy are critical.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and file customs entries in compliance with CBP regulations
Handle FDA-regulated shipments, including food, beverages, supplements, and related products
Submit FDA entries through ACE (PGA Message Sets)
Review and verify commercial invoices, packing lists, COO, FDA product codes, and entry data
Ensure compliance with FDA Prior Notice requirements
Communicate with importers, FDA, CBP, freight forwarders, and carriers regarding shipment status
Respond to CBP and FDA requests, holds, exams, and compliance inquiries
Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS)
Maintain accurate records and support audits and compliance reviews
Identify and resolve clearance issues to minimize delays and costs
Required Qualifications
2+ years of experience in customs brokerage or import operations
Strong working knowledge of FDA and food import regulations
Experience filing entries in ACE
Familiarity with FDA product codes, Prior Notice, and compliance documentation
Understanding of CBP regulations, HTS classification, and entry procedures
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with food products, supplements, cosmetics, or other FDA-regulated commodities
Knowledge of USDA, FSIS, or other PGAs
Experience working with customs brokerage software
