Base pay range $60,000.00/yr - $70,000.00/yr
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, components, and services required for manufacturing operations. This role ensures timely delivery of quality materials at competitive prices while maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the procurement process for raw materials, components, and indirect supplies.
Identify and qualify new suppliers to ensure cost-effective and reliable sourcing.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to achieve optimal value.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and warehouse teams to prevent shortages or excess stock.
Maintain accurate purchase orders and ensure compliance with company policies and quality standards.
Resolve supplier issues related to delivery, quality, or invoicing discrepancies.
Analyze market trends and material costs to support budgeting and cost-reduction initiatives.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams on material specifications and alternative sourcing options.
Education and Professional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in chain supply management, business administration, or related field.
2-5 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience managing and developing direct reports
Must have acquired demonstrable skills necessary to provide solutions to organizational challenges and work across business functions
Technical Requirements
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of supply chain principles and inventory management.
Ability to analyze data and make cost-effective decisions.
