Base pay range $65,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr
Position Overview We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Landscape Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing project blueprints, specifications, and site conditions to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for various landscape construction projects. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities to collaborate effectively with clients, designers, suppliers, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities And Duties
Analyze Project Documents: Review and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, specifications, and other construction documents to understand the full scope of a project.
Perform Quantity Take-offs: Accurately calculate the quantities and costs of required materials, labor, and equipment for each project.
Source Pricing and Bids: Solicit and evaluate bids and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
Prepare Detailed Estimates & Proposals: Compile comprehensive, well-organized, and professional cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals for submission to clients and management.
Conduct Site Visits: Perform on-site assessments to understand project conditions, potential risks, and to gather necessary data for accurate estimation.
Collaborate and Communicate: Work closely with project managers, designers, clients, and field crews to clarify project requirements, adjust estimates as needed, and ensure a smooth transition from estimation to execution (project hand-off).
Maintain Data: Develop and maintain an up‑to‑date cost database and pricing models by monitoring market trends in materials, labor rates, and equipment costs.
Problem Solve: Identify potential cost‑saving opportunities or value engineering options without compromising quality or project goals.
Manage Deadlines: Prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently to meet strict bid deadlines.
Qualifications And Skills
Education: A bachelor’s or associate degree in construction management, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred. Relevant field experience may be a substitute for a degree.
Experience: Proven experience (3‑5+ years preferred) as an estimator in the landscaping or construction industry.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, LMN, or similar).
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
Familiarity with CAD programs (AutoCAD or similar) is a plus.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of landscape construction methods, materials, techniques, and best practices.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and be a reliable team player.
Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to work outside in all types of weather conditions; conditions include occasional extreme heat exposure due to natural climate. The noise level in the work environment can be loud; vibration levels are moderate.
