Essential Job Functions and Core Responsibilities
Accountable to the unit Manager and/or the Director of the department.
Adherence to identified nursing standards of practice.
Annually demonstrate competence in critical behaviors for the assigned area.
Display professional commitment and promote unity and teamwork among coworkers by maintaining a positive attitude and positive working relationships.
Responsible for planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating patient care, including delegation of nursing care to licensed and unlicensed staff as appropriate.
Participate in the organization-wide Performance Improvement Program through orientation, education, quality control, performance improvement, and quality planning activities.
Demonstrate the IRAISE values in all professional and patient care interactions.
Perform other duties as assigned by Manager/Director/Clinical Lead RN.
Prioritize cases to provide service to the most urgent patients.
Organize patient transportation, surgical team coordination, age‑specific admission evaluation, and pre‑operative preparation, including pre‑operative work‑up.
Utilize established protocols and follow appropriate pre‑ and post‑procedure orders based on patient evaluation.
Follow up on patients post‑procedurally.
Participate with patients, families, and other healthcare providers in evaluating patient outcomes.
Provide coaching and mentoring of staff to improve patient outcomes.
Coordinate pre‑ and post‑procedure patient/family education tailored to the patient’s age, developmental needs, level of understanding, cultural considerations, barriers, motivators, and limitations.
Coordinate discharge planning.
Communicate with patients’ families, medical consultants, medical and hospital staff, outside referring physicians, and medical groups.
Communicate with insurance company utilization review and authorization personnel.
Gather and maintain data and reports required by government agencies and the Quality Review Department/Hospital Administration.
Act as a resource person for nurse coordinators, nursing, and other hospital staff.
Review, interpret, integrate, and analyze patient clinical findings.
Effectively communicate findings and recommendations to achieve patient outcomes.
Identify the need for and coordinate patient/family conferences as needed.
Ensure a physician‑specific plan of care is in place for patients.
Propose alternative treatment options to ensure a cost‑effective and efficient plan of care.
Review clinical findings and diagnostic reports, correlating medical record findings with patient assessment findings.
Identify and create solutions to remove barriers that impede optimum patient care delivery.
Provide supportive and therapeutic clinical interventions as indicated.
Ensure referrals for consultants are completed in a timely manner and follow through as appropriate.
Identify the lead physician in complex cases with multiple practitioners.
Ensure appropriate resource utilization relevant to financial, regulatory, and clinical aspects of care.
Provide consultation and mediation services to facilitate patient progression toward desired outcomes.
Collaborate with the entire health‑care team to identify the primary patient/family decision maker and communicate care plans as indicated.
Identify and record avoidable delays and days.
Document and resolve/refer any discrepancies from standards of care issues to responsible individuals.
Identify potential risk management or quality issues and resolve them through intervention or referral as appropriate.
Minimum Education
Associate’s Degree in Nursing
Required Skills
Possess basic computer skills.
Required Certifications
Registered Nurse – RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
Basic Life Support (BLS) – Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Preferred Experience
1 year acute care experience.
Current RN experience in assigned area of Nursing.
RN experience in Cath lab or Interventional Radiology.
Pay Transparency Hourly rate range: $21.00 – $25.95 and $53.00 – $87.45.
