Project Manager III (PM3) – Overview The University of Texas at Austin is hiring a Project Manager III (PM3) to serve within Planning, Design and Construction (PDC). The position provides leadership and project management for major Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects (≥ $10M TPC) and minor projects ( Job Details Department:

Responsibilities

Provide leadership, organization, and communication skills to support university Design and Construction Standards and meet client needs.

Guide and mentor project teams, ensuring successful project delivery at all levels of the organization.

Maintain timely communication among stakeholders, including clients, professional service providers, university personnel, and contractors, documenting all project activities.

Assist in developing scope, budget, and schedule for multiple simultaneous projects; track budgets and schedules and develop reports as directed; keep the facilities database software (currently FAMIS) up to date.

Procure services from Professional Service Providers (PSPs) and Construction teams and administer agreements.

Stay current with legislation, building codes, materials, methods, and university design and construction standards.

Maintain awareness of project safety requirements and follow OSHA standards.

Participate in committees and task forces to improve department mission and project delivery.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or related discipline.

4+ years of project‑management experience for renovations and new construction of institutional or commercial facilities.

Working knowledge of contract documents (plans, specifications).

Experience obtaining construction bids and negotiating contracts.

Knowledge of life safety and building codes (e.g., NFPA 101, IBC, ASHRAE, Texas Accessibility Standards, ADA).

Proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Word, and scheduling software such as MS Project.

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

Licensed Architect or Engineer in Texas, or license in another state with eligibility for reciprocity, or ability to obtain professional licensure in Texas within two years.

LEED‑AP credentials.

Experience managing design and construction for higher‑education projects as owner’s representative.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent formal project‑management training.

Salary & Benefits Salary Range:

$110,000+ depending on qualifications.

Working Conditions

Uniform/PPE, all weather conditions, extreme temperatures, chemical fumes, biohazards, electrical/mechanical hazards, keyboard use, manual dexterity, climbing of stairs and ladders, lifting and moving.

Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in policy UTS157 Section 2.5.4.

Security sensitive; conviction verification will be conducted on selected applicant.
