Sr. Compliance and Privacy Analyst – UVA Health Join UVA Health as a Senior Compliance & Privacy Analyst. Use advanced knowledge of regulatory compliance to identify, triage, and investigate compliance and privacy issues, and protect patients and the organization from regulatory risk.

Responsibilities

Identify, research, and analyze compliance and regulatory risk.

Collect all data points relevant to the investigation and triage issues to team members.

Apply advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations to assess potential compliance risk to patients and the organization.

Effectively interview witnesses, determine risk based on discretion and regulatory analysis, and document all aspects of the investigation.

Communicate determination and corrective action plans to stakeholders, and oversee implementation to mitigate compliance risk.

Report findings to federal agencies as required.

Create complex documents, spreadsheets, and advanced graphics to support investigations.

Partner with the CISO and HIT Information Security team on HIPAA related matters.

Perform complex coding, documentation, and billing compliance reviews per the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Office project schedule.

Trend data for patterns of compliance and risk, reporting opportunities for improvement to the Chief Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer.

Develop and implement projects that meet organizational and office goals, utilizing internal and external resources efficiently.

Maintain knowledge of coding rules and guidelines, preparing accurate written reports and regulatory agency responses.

Conduct and document privacy and compliance investigations and audits, recommending policy changes based on regulatory updates.

Provide guidance and education to staff on billing compliance, coding guidelines, and medical necessity.

Build and maintain effective networks within the health system to support compliance and privacy efforts.

Adapt to competing demands, shifting priorities, and changing regulations while maintaining professional communication.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in hospital and/or academic medical center compliance and privacy.

5 years of experience in a compliance and privacy related field, or 3 years performing complex compliance inpatient coding reviews.

Healthcare compliance certification (HCCA preferred; employee must obtain within 12 months of hire if not already held).

Certification in AHIMA or AAPC (CCS, CCS‑P, CCA, CPC, or CPC‑H required; employee must obtain within 6 months of hire if not already held).

Strong analytical, investigative, and communication skills.

Proficiency in regulatory compliance, coding, billing, and privacy laws.

Physical Demands This primarily sedentary position requires extensive use of a desktop computer. Occasional travel to meetings and programs may be required.

Compensation $62,691.00 – $125,382.00 annually.
