Job Details Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Quality Inspector – Level 2 to join our team in Lanham, MD. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
In This Job, You Will:
Directly support Procurement and Production activity requiring verification of compliance to program and engineering requirements.
Utilize the Manufacturing Execution System to record the results of characteristics included in Inspection Plans and Work Order operations.
Inspect purchased parts and materials for conformity to standards, specifications, and processing requirements.
Inspect for proper identity and dimensions using measuring devices such as micrometers, gauges, and calipers.
Visually inspect for obvious defects.
Verify specifications using purchase orders, blueprints, drawings, or inspection instructions and checklists.
Make pass/fail decisions on inspected goods, maintaining records of results. Inspections may involve compound angles or 3‑D projections using inspection equipment such as microscopes, micrometers, telescope gauges, and optical comparators.
Perform Prohibited Material verification using both bench‑top XRF machine and handheld XRF machine.
For Production support, use predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to visually inspect in‑process and completed products such as electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies or mechanical units, and subassemblies, for structural flaws, internal defects, and missing components.
Work from blueprints, diagrams, customer specifications, drawings or inspection instructions and checklists.
Document findings not meeting requirements of Work Order, Engineering documentation, and applicable standards in a Manufacturing Execution System.
Minimum Education Required High School/GED.
Additional Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
No clearance required to start.
Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, gauges, pin gauges, and other inspection tools.
US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of EEE components, mechanical inspections, and non‑destructive testing.
ASQ CQI, NASA, J‑standard, or related certifications.
Experience supporting dispositions for non‑conforming material, root cause/corrective action analysis.
Familiarity with ERP/MES systems, e.g. SAP, Cost Point, Solumina, etc.
Ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications, and related criteria.
Understanding of GD&T.
Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface across the organization to achieve effective results.
Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads.
Salary Range $51,400.00 – $85,600.00.
