Job Description The Project Engineer I participates on project teams that are responsible for the design, acquisition, installation and upgrade of critical systems and equipment used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products. The Engineer I assumes responsibility and accountability for lower level capital and expense engineering projects involving facility or production equipment, cost reduction, process improvement, cGMP upgrades, and other small‑to‑mid‑scale projects.

Responsibilities

Assume responsibility and accountability for lower level capital and expense engineering projects involving facility or production equipment, cost reduction, process improvement, cGMP upgrades, and related tasks. Projects require skills such as engineering calculations, specifications, technical writing, cost estimating, equipment acquisition scheduling, cGMP knowledge, excellent interpersonal skills and documentation skill.

Possess practical knowledge in an engineering technical field such as Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Controls, or Manufacturing Technology. This includes the ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings, specifications, logic diagrams, schematics, verbal and written instructions.

Responsible for the proper use of cGMP and engineering documentation systems, including electronic SOP documentation management system, training records, change control system, engineering drawings, validation documentation, and related systems.

Provide technical support of engineering facility projects including facility and utility expansion, compliance upgrades, cost reduction, contract manufacturing, process improvements, construction projects, and related capital and expense facility projects.

Through education and experience contribute expertise in the area of facility engineering, including design, modification, and troubleshooting pharmaceutical systems such as HVAC, Clean Steam, WFI, electrical and knowledge of pharmaceutical construction methods.

Manage capital and expense facility projects in a manner that is compliant with the Project Management Guidelines system, including scheduling, budgeting, team management, communication and documentation of a multi‑departmental project team.

Work effectively with various internal and external customers, including departments such as Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Validation, Finance and external regulatory agencies, A&E firms, construction firms, vendors, equipment manufacturers, and related customers.

Participate in compliance with both short‑term and long‑term company objectives as defined by upper management.

Develop detailed specifications and RFQs to be used by A&E firms, contractors or equipment manufacturers to accurately quote on projects pursued by the company.

Use systems of engineering documentation required by regulatory agencies and in compliance with generally accepted engineering guidelines, SOPs, or quality standards.

Autonomously manage major capital and expense facility projects in a manner that is compliant with the Project Management Guidelines system.

Qualifications

Bachelors of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or related Engineering field required.

Pharmaceutical and FDA Regulated Industry experience desired.

Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required. Microsoft Project desired.

Mechanical aptitude desired.

Exposure to allergens required.

Working in aseptic areas required.

Working in confined spaces required.

Prolonged sitting and standing required.

3+ years of project management and/or project engineering.

AutoCAD desired.

Pharmaceutical Facility/Systems experience desired.

Project Management knowledge required.

ISPE Baseline Guides experience required.

Ability to lift 40 lbs. unassisted required.

7+ years of project management and/or project engineering.

Shift Weekday Days, Monday‑Friday

Compensation & Benefits This is an on‑site, full‑time position located in Spokane, WA.

Project Engineer I : $81,825.00‑120,000 annually depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises.

Project Engineer II : $89,250.00‑130,900 annually depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises.

Project Engineer III : $102,075.00‑149,700 annually depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises.
