Overview
CDM Smith currently has a new opportunity for a Client Service Leader within our West Transportation Group to lead sales efforts for our Southern California transportation practice. In this position, you will work with a dynamic team to continue building our transportation business. You will lead the development of a business strategy for the increase in sales with our existing clients and to develop new clients across the greater SoCal region. This position leads the business development activities, oversees overall client service, represents CDM Smith on transportation related boards or organizations, and serves as a leader in your office and throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
Develop new business and maintain high‑value client relationships for services in the greater Southern California market and elsewhere.
Develop and manage client teams that include project managers, technical specialists, national leaders, and junior staff to develop strategic capture plans, proposal efforts, presentations, and other business development activities.
Serve as a key member of the strategy team promoting growth and supporting other West Transportation Group growth initiatives.
Serve as a technical or project leader as needed on projects of significant size and strategic importance.
Be active in professional societies in which clients or potential clients are members.
Be a strong internal and external leader.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
12 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties and project demands.
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related field.
PE Certification.
Previous experience in business development, including proposal handling and meeting/speaking with Southern California transportation clients.
Established relationships with agencies such as LA Metro, OCTA, RTA, CTA, RCTC, SANDAG, and other local agencies.
Focus on transit, environmental, tolling, and roadway design clients.
Demonstrated success in meeting sales/business development goals.
Excellent communication, networking, and team‑building skills.
Travel 15% domestic and/or international travel may be required.
