The Opportunity The Production Planner serves as the intermediary between elements of the supply chain and production schedules. The Production Planner orchestrates all supply planning efforts with logistics and customer service teams, creating and organizing the most efficient manufacturing schedules that maximize efficiency and productivity and meet customer requirements.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock Packaging Solutions
Partner with stakeholders (including internal supply planners, external customers, production resources, and logistics resources) to determine how to meet on‑time needs and demands in the most cost‑effective way.
Assist with on‑time shipments to customers by scheduling machines for production runs.
Make production scheduling and transportation decisions with a high degree of autonomy.
Identify the most effective solutions to deliver the customer products on time.
Analyze manufacturing order data to optimize production schedules of branch machinery.
Generate daily, weekly, and monthly scheduling reports to measure performance and identify solutions to optimize efficiency when appropriate.
Continuously identify innovative ways to improve trim efficiency, reduce labor waste, and maximize machine utilization.
Balance competing needs, metrics (i.e., trim efficiency, shipment time, freight loading optimization) and goals to arrive at the optimal scheduling and logistics solution for all parties.
Communicate production and logistics decisions with cross‑functional stakeholders as necessary to ensure alignment.
Communicate regularly and effectively with manufacturing personnel to ensure production runs are sequenced to meet customer/company objectives and communication with supervisor.
Demonstrate agility, flexibility, and a willingness to modify one’s approach to achieve desired results; respond quickly to changing demands, processes, and updated information.
Demonstrate interest, willingness and drive to learn new things; seek to understand concepts, processes, and ideas within area of functional expertise; naturally inquisitive; set meaningful goals for personal work productivity.
Identify and analyze problems; weigh relevance and accuracy of information; generate and evaluate alternative solutions.
Plan and decide on the course of action while allowing for flexibility to support ad‑hoc scenarios; demonstrate ability to balance competing priorities.
Manage and resolve conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner.
Clearly exchange thoughts, ideas, and messages through written, verbal, and can communicate effectively with others to build rapport and relationships.
Maintain more involved supplier relationships.
Support Solution Center Site Safety tasks and initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed
Microsoft Office -- Excel, Outlook.
Preferred experience with scheduling tools and supply chain software.
The safe and accurate preparation and analysis of data and figures.
Able to work in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities.
Preferred: 2+ years’ work experience in scheduling, customer service, logistics, inventory management or process manufacturing.
Preferred bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or business administration.
Able to travel 10%.
