About This Role The Materials Manager plays a key role in ensuring the timely availability of materials required to support QISG’s construction, installation, and engineering activities. This role ensures materials are adequately controlled, received, stored, and distributed to meet project requirements. Other responsibilities may include collaboration with procurement, logistics, communicating with vendors/suppliers, and on-site contractor management for the Company.
What You’ll Do
Develop and manage material management practices and resources with clients
Maintain material control systems to ensure accurate tracking, receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and equipment.
Identify issues related to material control and recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Expedite materials deliveries as needed to ensure timely receipt of materials and equipment.
Work with vendors to quickly obtain materials when expedited requests are needed
Work directly with procurement to ensure project materials adhere to construction and delivery schedules, and effectively communicate with client, project teams, and vendors.
Perform material take-offs and work with customers, engineering, project management, and construction to determine the necessary material for project completion
Manage lead times and material availability by identifying the material construction need dates, order by dates, and material decision points to be included in project schedules.
Oversee vendor shipments to ensure logistics and timely delivery of construction materials to the project
Continuously monitor changes to construction material requirements to ensure appropriate requisitions and/or revisions are efficiently addressed
Prepare Materials Management Execution Plan, as needed
Collaborate with site teams to ensure materials are delivered in the correct quantities and within required timelines.
Work with Site Material Management personnel to establish layout of warehouse and or lay-down yard, using warehouse/material management industry best practices to safely maximize space and streamline operations.
Work with Site Material Management personnel to ensure all inventory is handled and stored safely, according to any requirements and engineering specifications
Work with Site Material Management personnel to effectivity manage receiving activities, count, and inspection of materials delivered to construction/warehouse/ lay-down yard and addressing any discrepancy whether it be QA/QC, overage, shortage, or damage goods are reported and corrected in a timely manger.
Obtains and resolves material related questions and/or problems, directly coordinating between project managers, engineering, suppliers, fabricators, construction, project controls, or other management
Plans, manages, and executes phase bundling, structure staging and kitting to help streamline materials for construction
Works with Site Material Management personnel to performs on-site material audits to ensure accuracy of inventory
Directly manages, controls, and performs data input for project materials within our inventory management system to provide real time and accurate inventory reporting
Works with Site Material Management personnel who coordinates and supervises the off−loading and storage of materials as they are received or issued to construction
Performs and coordinates project closeout activities for materials, purchase orders, and other contract requirements, including obtaining proper disposition of excess materials
Acts as liaison between Project Managers, customers, suppliers, and construction management to resolve any material related issues
Performs any other duties assigned
Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
What You’ll Bring Required Experience and Education
4 years’ experience in materials management and/or managing materials for a warehouse or lay-down yard
Has a thorough knowledge of materials management and best practices as it relates to receiving, inspection, storage, inventory, and issuance of materials.
Highly skilled in all aspects of Microsoft Office including Power Point & Visio.
Preferred Experience And Education
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Supply Chain/Logistics, engineering or related discipline; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
2 years’ experience with EPC projects
Proficiency in managing material control systems, processes, and related tools.
Experience with J.D. Edwards ERP System
