We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Nurse Manager 10hr - Nights Critical Care/Tele/Med/Surg - LOH. In this role, the successful candidate provides clinical leadership and management for a designated shift for a patient care unit or clinical service in operative and ambulatory settings, consistent with the philosophy and goals of the institution, the departments of nursing, unit, or program. The Assistant Nurse Manager assists the nurse manager in developing and sustaining an environment of excellence in patient/family service, staff growth and development, and evidence‑based practice to improve patient care. Job Responsibilities

Collaborate with nurse manager on interviews and ensure employees are appropriately selected, on‑boarded, oriented, educated, and evaluated; support clinical rotations for student partnerships. Evaluate performance and assess practice of designated personnel fairly and transparently. Serve as role model and resource for staff; develop and manage employees through professional growth, mentoring, coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline. Monitor staff attendance; ensure appropriate staffing and skill mix to optimize patient outcomes and safety while promoting fiscal responsibility. Coordinate care delivery and assignment of staff based on patient needs and clinical competency. Assist in scheduling, payroll, and integrating services across the care continuum. Provide direct patient care as needed to support unit operations. Offer leadership support to other units in the service. Hold self and others accountable for delivery of exemplary, cost‑efficient care. Assist with maintaining accreditation, regulatory standards, service standards, and policies at the organization, local, state, and federal level. Communicate with clarity and integrity to build trust with all stakeholders. Communicate significant patient care issues, family concerns, safety, risk management concerns, and critical events to leadership on duty; seek consultation and assist when indicated; report to the Nurse Manager or Director promptly. Communicate regularly with Nurse Manager about patient safety, clinical practice, staff performance, and participate in implementation of unit initiatives. Participate in drafting nursing and organizational policy, engaging front‑line staff and incorporating principles of shared governance. Support data collection with nurse manager and interprofessional team; analyze and utilize data to drive practice changes that integrate quality, safety, patient experience, and productivity metrics. Assist leadership team in maintaining licenses, certifications, mandated learning, and content for unit staff. Foster high reliability concepts within the unit/organizational structure. Foster a culture of inquiry, innovation, and transformation focused on the future. Participate in and foster staff involvement in nursing research, quality improvement, and evidence‑based practice efforts. Lead and support development of new insights for complex situations, innovative designs, and programs/processes. Exercise independent judgment in duties including discipline of employees (suspension, discharge), staff evaluation, approval of time off requests, assignment of work to staff, and hiring decisions. Minimum Qualifications
Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in New York State. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing; MSN preferred. Two years of experience required. Certification in nursing leadership required upon eligibility. Ability to apply the nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion to address patient/family satisfaction and quality indicators. Evidence of excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking, problem‑solving, and leadership skills. Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association. Physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities, including handling and moving reasonably heavy weight. Required licenses: Registered Nurse License (NYS) and Basic Life Support Certification. Preferred Qualifications
