Carrier Procurement Representative

Under the direction of the Carrier Procurement Manager the Carrier Sales Representative is responsible for securing capacity for all Truckload orders as well as providing estimated pricing. The Carrier Procurement Specialist will use carrier analytics and other tools to guide negotiations and buying decisions to meet the transportation needs of our customers.
Essential Functions
Develop carrier relationships to effectively support our customers
Send and Receive Rate Confirmations
Provide rate feedback to Truckload Account Managers
Manage load postings, coordinate inbound and outbound calling to carriers
Send BOL and ETA to Truckload Account Managers and Managed Account Managers
Cover all freight in assigned region and assist with overflow/PTO challenged shipments
Conduct consistent lane research daily and enter info obtained into the MCL Tool or future program that replaces MCL
Utilize carrier analytics and other internal resources to make informed buying decisions
Maintain and grow relationships with carrier accounts including conducting account reviews and identifying opportunities for additional collaboration
Resolve problems, including identifying issues, thinking critically to determine the best course of action, and implementing solutions
Daily contact with carriers to determine availability and negotiate transportation rates
Provide consistent and exceptional service levels to contracted carriers and internal customers
Research new carriers in the marketplace, generate leads, develop new carrier relationships and assist with onboarding new carriers
Understand the technology platform and drive automation
Leverage technology to secure carriers for customer shipments
Study and understand market trends and seasonality
Assist in claims process, collecting necessary documents and relaying appropriate information to Evans’ Claim Department
Provide tracking and tracing information throughout the life of the order as required by the customer through communication with the carrier
Adhere to Evans’ Five Guiding Principles, Policies, Procedures and Employee Handbook
All other duties that may be reasonably assigned, including special projects and cross‑training in other departments
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Related experience

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Driven, enthusiastic, and highly motivated

Experience with transportation management systems, Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook as well as the ability and willingness to learn new software

Work Environment The typical work environment is fast‑paced and moderately quiet. Regular use of office equipment is expected, including computer, fax machines, and telephone. Employees may be required to lift on occasion up to 10 pounds. This position is required to sit at a workstation for up to 8 hours a day.
