Job Overview The Continuous Improvement Manager will focus on continuous improvement efforts for the site, including being responsible for the ongoing development and improvement of the Hubbell Manufacturing System. This includes leading Kaizen and other Lean events as business need shows which involve improvement in material flow, labor structure, facility layout, maintenance, and expenses to grow profitability by improving operations overall. This position is accountable for improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and people. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of implementing Lean Transformation within an existing organization.

A Day In The Life

Leader in the development and sustainment of the Hubbell Manufacturing System for the site

Lead and facilitate Lean / Operational Excellence initiatives, including kaizen events and process improvement projects with the goal of reducing waste, improving flow, and increasing efficiency across production processes

Drive measurable improvements in SQDCPP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity, and People)

Apply advanced Lean and Six Sigma tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Hoshin planning, Root Cause Problem Solving (A3, 5-why), Visual Management, and Kanban

Champions and shares Lean and Continuous Improvement Best Practices throughout the site

Trains teams and individuals in improvement processes, optimizes floor layout and material flow using Lean concepts

Leverages asset reliability and management strategies for a robust TPM system

Identify and lead prioritization in cost reduction opportunities across the facility, assisting in productivity realizations and the facilitation of any needed AFE’s

Plan, maintain, and manage a pipeline for all productivity improvement projects to assure that annual productivity improvement goals are exceeded

Facilitate the writing of Approvals for Expenditure (AFE), track and report project savings and AFE’s status, and track capital expenditures to assure they are within planned targets

Assess current state of Lean maturity in departments with goal of becoming HMS certified

Collaborate with management to fine-tune and execute the plan. Provide constant follow-up and coaching, and report periodically to the management team

Develop and implement documented procedures including SWI, LSW, SOPs, auditing systems, quality standards, 5S assessments, Gemba walks, etc. to improve operations and overall performance

Develop and impart training in all Lean topics as necessary

Coach team through Problem Solving process

Consistently monitor and periodically report status of progress and operations to leadership

Hands‑on active position that leads from the floor

Perform other related duties as assigned

What will help you thrive in this role? Required:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations / Manufacturing, or related field

Experience: Minimum of seven years of experience in Lean / Continuous Improvement within manufacturing environments

Certification: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt minimum; Black Belt preferred

Must have demonstrated project management experience in working with cross‑functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, sourcing, and others) to improve OEE and other key metrics

Must have experience in realizing productivity savings off of implemented process improvements

Must possess strong written and oral communication skills

Must possess strong team skills to communicate and influence all levels of the organization

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

Strong influential and leadership skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Visio, Planner, etc.

Able to give and receive constructive feedback

Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to train staff at all levels

Self‑starter, ambitious and comfortable working with and without direction

Preferred:

Proficiency in AUTOCAD

Proficiency in SAP ERP software

Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI and Power Automate

Proficiency in Maintenance Reliability

Experience in leading Hoshin Kanri / Strategy Deployment at the plant / site level
