About the Role We’re looking for a dynamic operations leader to manage inspection and metallurgical laboratory functions within a high-performance aerospace manufacturing environment. This role drives safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics while leading a team of area managers and implementing Lean principles to achieve operational excellence.
What You’ll Do
Oversee inspection and metallurgical labs supporting aerospace structures manufacturing
Ensure compliance with AS9100 and customer quality requirements
Manage daily P&L and operational KPIs; lead Tier 2 & Tier 3 meetings
Develop process plans for personnel, materials, equipment, and facilities
Drive Lean initiatives (Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen) to reduce cost and improve efficiency
Lead cost reduction projects and capital investments
Maintain strong union relationships and ensure labor compliance
Implement advanced inspection techniques and metallurgical testing standards
Create dashboards and metrics to communicate performance and identify gaps
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or related field
10+ years in aerospace or complex manufacturing environments
7+ years in progressive leadership roles with P&L accountability
Proven success implementing Lean and Continuous Improvement in regulated industries
Experience managing unionized technical teams
Strong knowledge of metallurgical processes, NDT methods, and aerospace quality standards
