SUMMARY
The Business Development Manager will support our Civil, Marine, and Industrial groups both in the private sector and municipal sectors. This role serves as a steward of RIGID’s business development efforts, providing support and maintaining strong, lasting client relationships for the overall benefit of the organization. The position helps achieve overall brand dominance and complete client satisfaction, directly contributing to the company’s vision, mission, and purpose.
Location & Travel Details This is a remote‑based role that can be based in Houston, Dallas, or South Louisiana, with the ability to travel up to 75% to main offices and customer locations to support events or departmental activities.
Essential Job Functions
Develop and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and industry contacts
Secure new business opportunities for the company
Identify and pursue new business opportunities in heavy civil, marine, and industrial projects
Collaborate with estimating and operations teams to prepare proposals and bids
Represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities
Identify, research, and qualify potential leads
Monitor sales pipeline and other corporate‑level KPI/metrics
Engage in industry‑related events and associations to maintain awareness of new industry trends and developments
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet business goals
Conduct market research as necessary
Utilize CRM programs and data
Maintain business development SOPs, guidelines, strategies, etc. for pursuit and processing of opportunities
Track market trends and provide strategic input for growth initiatives
Skills and Requirements
Knowledge of earthwork, coastal restoration, and large‑scale infrastructure projects
Familiarity with civil, marine, and industrial construction is a plus
Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills
Self‑motivated and self‑driven to seek new business
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field
Minimum of 5+ years work experience related to heavy civil/marine/industrial construction
Experience and industry‑specific knowledge in proposal development and coordination of proposals & presentations while pursuing new business
Proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment
Planning, scheduling, and budget management experience
Business awareness and acumen to develop clients in a variety of market sectors
Proven track record of working effectively with organizations having complex matrix structures and diverse workforces
Ability to travel on a flexible schedule for extended periods of time on an as‑needed basis
High proficiency in Microsoft Office with particular emphasis on PowerPoint
Experience with CRM systems
Experience with ERP system
