Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M‑F, 8‑5)

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise the installation, repair, overhaul and maintenance of HVAC/refrigeration systems, including mechanical building systems and related assignments.

Supervise two or more full‑time employees or their equivalent on a regular basis.

Make decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees, or make related recommendations that are given particular weight.

Make material and labor estimates.

Prepare sketches of proposed work and assist in the design and specifications of planned jobs or contracts.

Establish, assign and adjust work methods and procedures to meet schedules using knowledge of capacities and capabilities of personnel and equipment.

Initiate measures to improve methods, equipment performance and quality of work.

Ensure budgeting guidelines are met; prioritize expenditures to stay within budget; assist in the preparation of capital and operations budgets.

Interpret policies to assigned personnel and enforce safety regulations and adherence to proper codes and standards.

Recommend or initiate actions involving promotions, transfers, disciplinary action and motivation of employees.

Maintain records and files, including the approval of time cards and absences, and submit as required.

Train and instruct employees in new methods or procedures.

Maintain responsibility for the correct stock levels of repair or replacement parts.

Inspect work in process to insure its completion within allotted time limits and for acceptable quality standards.

Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, engineers and others concerning equipment operations or maintenance.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Associate's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 2 years of relevant experience. Equivalency: Completion of a registered apprenticeship program recognized by a state or federal authority.

OR Valid Journeyman‑level certification in the applicable skilled trade (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Plumber).

OR High School Diploma or GED and eight (8) years of progressively responsible, journey‑level experience in the specific trade, including two (2) years in a supervisory, lead, or crew‑chief capacity.

OR An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of the position.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Physical Effort: Considerable physical activity. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.

Lifting Requirements: Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds.

Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
