Summary Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Quality Tech III, Quality Specialist at our aerospace manufacturing facility in City of Industry, CA. Under general supervision performs inspection and calibration of gauges and tooling. Maintains all record and documentation pertaining to calibration system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Good communication skills & know basic shop math

Ability to work in fast paced environment

Basic understanding of work instructions, routers, blueprints, drawings, and specifications in English

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence as required

Able to lift/move up to 30 pounds regularly

Able to follow and carry out instructions

Must be detailed oriented

Become familiar with the Daily Management board and understand covered topics as required

Basic computer skills

Ability to use/be trained on proper use and reading of micrometers and calipers

Must be able to pass vision test

Able to perform dimensional inspection of all characteristics of manufactured products

General knowledge of manufacturing operations and each department identification methods and requirements

Prepare inspection documentation

Demonstration of problem-solving techniques and ideas

Able to train Quality Tech I-III as required

Able to cross-train in other Quality activities as required

Able to write internal rejections for Quality Manufacturing and Vendors

General understanding of PRB process

Able to cross train in other Quality departments as required

Able to inspects samples under black light to detect defects such as discontinuity of seams, thread laps, non-metallic and metallic (NDT) inclusions, piping, grinding checks, cracks, etc. (NDT)

Able to work with calibration software

Support Quality Certs or Inspection when required

Performs inspection and calibrates all in-house gauges and tools used for product acceptance.

Maintains documentation and evidence of calibration on all tools and gauges.

Assist manufacturing and inspection with the recall of gauges.

Coordinates with procurement on gauges which require outside calibration.

Schedules outside suppliers for calibration of in-house tools, gauges and equipment.

Reviews calibration results for tightening or reducing of calibration frequency.

Run detailed First Article Inspections using tools like micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, and optical comparators

Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints using GD&T

Dig into supplier and customer issues to identify root causes and drive resolutions

Handle customer claims and rejections through quality portals

Accurately log non-conformances and inspection results in SAP and Excel

Take the lead or support during internal and external audits, including supplier corrective actions

Work closely with teams across Production, Sales, Customer Service, and Quality to keep things running smoothly

Share your knowledge and help train Level I-III Inspectors

Qualifications Basic Qualifications

Experience with tools like micrometers, calipers, ring/thread gauges, CMM, and optical comparators

Familiar with AS9100, AS9102, ISO 9001, FAI's and customer quality requirements

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) which requires U.S. Person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (ie. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee

Preferred Qualifications

Internal auditor certifications (AS9100 or ASQ CQA/CQI) a plus

SAE or similar inspection certifications preferred

High School diploma or GED preferred
