Reading Partners - Elementary School Needs Your Help - Become a Reading Tutor!
Tutoring takes place from Monday through Thursday between 8am and 3pm. In-person tutoring at one of our reading centers in the following neighborhoods: Lower East Side, Central Harlem, East Harlem, South Bronx, South Jamaica (Queens), Bed Stuy and Cypress Hills (Brooklyn) Virtual tutoring: Tutor at home via a secure Zoom meeting room All lesson materials are provided. Reading Partners provides ongoing coaching and support. Commitment
Lead two one-on-one, 45-minute tutoring sessions with a student grade K-4 on a weekly basis. Follow the Reading Partners structured curriculum. Sessions are held at the same day/time and with the same student each week. Tutors should arrive/log on for their session at least 20 minutes early. Code of Conduct
A positive attitude toward learning, diversity, and students. An ability to interact effectively with diverse student populations. Follow the guidelines in our Tutor Code of Conduct. Application & Orientation
Complete a volunteer application and a background check with the NYC DOE. Complete a 1.5 hour orientation to learn the basics of our program. Policies & Equipment
For in-person tutoring: follow schools and Reading Partners COVID policies. For virtual tutoring: access to a reliable protected wifi, computer with a webcam and microphone. Population Served
Families in low-income communities. Requirements
