Fulton Schools
The High School Athletic Director assists the school administration in providing effective leadership and guidance in the athletic operations of the school. The Athletic Director is responsible for the planning, staffing, finances, facilities, community relations, booster clubs, and compliance of the athletic programs at the high school.
Oversees the entire athletic program at the high school
Develops the mission and vision of the athletic program; Conducts annual meetings with all coaches and booster clubs
Assists the principal in staffing all coaching positions and in assigning all county coaching supplements
Oversees the hiring of Community Coaches and assists in submitting the correct paperwork to the District
Oversees the GHSA physicals, waivers, concussion form, etc.
Evaluates the performances of head coaches and assistant coaches
Coordinates all school fundraising activities and generates sponsorships from the community
Oversees the athletic budget at the high school and works with bookkeeper to ensure financial compliance
Oversees the booster clubs at the high school and coordinates yearly training to ensure knowledge of any new District policies
Compiles the county additional pay logs for coaches receiving money from booster clubs
Serves as Athletic Gender equity coordinator for the high school (Title IX Report submitted to District Athletic Director)
Serves as the school contact for the Georgia High School Association
Ensures that all GHSA compliance rules and regulations are met by each sport
Completes and submits eligibility reports to the GHSA
Sanctions all athletic activities/competitions for the school year
Schedules transportation for all athletic events (County and Activity Drivers); Approves all school athletic field trips
Schedules the use and maintenance of all athletic facilities including heat and air requests
Assists in the coordination of custodial duties as they pertain to athletics
Coordinates all capital improvements for athletic facilities
Serves as the School Dude Coordinator; Works with feeder programs to facilitate in-kind contributions and use of facilities
Coordinates all safety and security measures for all athletic events; Completes all Emergency Action Plans
Creates Game Plans for all home Football Games; Completes the Football Fight Plan
Assists the school with the master school calendar
Works with the Business Manager to Schedule all gate workers for athletic events; Creates a calendar assigning the administrative coverage for athletic events
Reviews all athletic schedules for each sport
Coordinates the athletic trainers at each school (Heat policy, physicals, waivers, etc.)
Schedules the CPR/AED training for each coach
Serves as contact for all local media pertaining to athletics
Monitors the attendance and behavior of all student athletes; Enforces FCS athletic code of conduct
Coordinates home and away GHSA playoff contests
Provides supervision during evening and weekend athletic events to ensure operations are ran smoothly and safely
Attends all Region and County AD meetings
Manages all school/sports athletic websites
Stays abreast of educational research, trends, and issues pertaining to coaching, facilities, and athletics
Performs other duties as assigned by the principal such as supervision of cafeteria, bus duty, athletic related discipline, etc.
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree Certification/Licensure
Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate Experience Qualifications
Minimum of five years of successful teaching and coaching experience required;Head coaching experience preferred; Experience coachingmultiple sports during his/her career preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to function calmly and effectively under pressure Demonstrated ability to multi-task Excellent organizational skills Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing Ability to work with parents and the community Experience overseeing budgets Working Conditions
