POSITION SUMMARY:
The Financial Aid Counselor is responsible to the Director of Financial Aid. The position is part-time and does not offer benefits. The Financial Aid Counselor assists students and families through the financial aid process.
Employee must possess a vibrant, personal Christian faith including a clear testimony of Christian conversion and be actively involved in an evangelical, preferably Southern Baptist, church.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in packaging scholarships and awards
Counsel students and prospective students regarding financial aid availability and eligibility
Assist with maintenance of the Financial Aid management system
Assists with verification processing
Other duties as assigned
DEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS
Faculty and Staff – Scholarships
Business Office – Student Accounts
Admissions – assisting with incoming students’ financial aid
Registrar – satisfactory academic progress (SAP) and enrollment verification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Must have the ability to learn new computer programs
Must have the ability to work independently and multi-task
Must be attentive to detail
Some physical lifting is required with filing
Must have values consistent with the mission and purpose of Hannibal-LaGrange University
Must agree to, sign, and abide by the standards of employment on the back of the application, and in the employee handbook
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
1-2 years working in related field preferred
Preferred experience and/or proficiency in Microsoft Word and internet usage
