Veterinary Extern - General Practice
NVA General Practice, Kingsburg, California, United States, 93631
Kingsburg Veterinary Clinic is a small animal clinic located in Central California. Our clinic has been established for over 50 years serving all the communities in our area. We have 3 full-time veterinarians and 2 part-time veterinarians. We are extremely busy as we see emergencies and accept any and all walk‑ins so the amount of opportunities to get hands‑on are plentiful. We have 20 support staff who are all highly trained and knowledgeable in every facet of veterinary medicine ready to support your growth and learning!
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
