Overview
Sun River Health provides comprehensive primary, preventative, and behavioral health services to all who seek care, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. The Per Diem Nurse Practitioner will support the Monticello site.
Job Type & Pay Job type: Per Diem
Pay: $74.46 - $78.07 per hour
Responsibilities
Takes histories, performs physical examinations, gives immunizations (as necessary) and provides patient education and counseling.
Orders appropriate lab work, draws blood for lab work if needed, and performs some lab tests such as wet prep microscopic exams.
Prescribes treatment for minor illnesses, and consults with a physician regarding medication, chronic illness and referrals when appropriate.
Maintains legible and appropriate documentation and reviews records periodically. Performs follow‑up of abnormal pap smears and reportable STD’s.
Attends case conferences involving patients.
Attends continuing education programs to increase skills and knowledge.
Attends provider meetings and participates in quality improvement programs and team assignments.
Identifies and categorizes each patient’s age‑specific grouping of needs, such as infants, adolescents, or geriatric patients.
Follows OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines endorsed by the department, organization, and overseen by the Infection Control Officer.
Provides safe performance, meeting productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree.
Experience: 5–8 years of practice; 4 years of business office experience, preferably in a large medical practice with increasing levels of responsibility.
Preferred Experience: 8+ Years.
Licensure: Valid Nurse Practitioner license in New York State and CPR/BLS certification.
Required Skills & Knowledge
Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment procedures that Nurse Practitioners are trained to perform and that are necessary for practicing in health care centers.
Competence in the delivery of health care to patients, including preventative health education.
Ability to collaborate with other members of the Health Center to maintain high‑quality standards and achieve client satisfaction.
Bilingual in both English and Spanish (oral and written) is preferred.
