Overview Emory Healthcare is seeking a capable Medical Assistant Proceduralist / MA who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients and has developed a sound understanding of the care of a particular patient population.
Responsibilities
Assist with office‑based procedures following aseptic technique, hand off instruments, assist with obtaining, labeling and sending specimens, perform low and high level disinfection procedures, perform POC testing, enter orders into computer.
Perform routine and more complex medical assistant clinical duties including taking vital signs, administering a limited number of medications per Emory Clinic approved policy, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, maintaining examination rooms in an outpatient care setting.
Assist physicians and APPs with patients, equipment preparation, aseptic technique, and surgical procedures in the exam/procedure room.
Prepare the exam/procedure room by assembling routine supplies, materials, instruments and equipment; obtain special supplies indicated by physician.
Assist in the preparation, transportation, and positioning of patients for the procedure and provide for the physical comfort, safety, and privacy of the patient during the procedure.
Observe patients for possible symptoms which may indicate a change in condition and report to appropriate member of the medical team for immediate action.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Basic computer skills required. One year work experience preferred.
Current Medical Assistant Certification (e.g., AAMA CMA, AMT RMA, NHA CCMA, NCCT NCMA) required.
Current AHA BLS certification required for hire and must be renewed throughout employment.
Must successfully complete all medical assistant orientation and training requirements including certification and annual skills competency.
