About The Position TravelNurseSource is working with Magnet Medical to find a qualified ER/Trauma RN in Kaunakakai, Hawaii, 96748. The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room (ER) provides critical care to patients in urgent or emergent conditions. The RN works in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment, delivering immediate care to patients suffering from injuries, illnesses, or trauma. The RN assesses, triages, and treats patients in collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring the best outcomes in a dynamic setting.
Key Responsibilities
Triage and Patient Assessment: Perform initial assessments, triage based on severity, evaluate history, conduct physical assessments, collect vital signs, and prioritize care.
Emergency Care and Treatment: Administer medications, fluids, treatments as prescribed (IV fluids, antibiotics, pain management), perform wound care, splinting, suturing, provide life‑saving interventions (CPR, ACLS, trauma care), assist in resuscitation (ventilators, intubation, defibrillation).
Collaboration with Medical Team: Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other team members to develop and implement patient care plans, assist with diagnostic testing (lab work, imaging, ECGs), communicate updates.
Monitoring and Documentation: Continuously monitor patients, note changes, document assessments, treatments, outcomes in EHR, ensure compliance with legal and hospital standards.
Patient and Family Communication: Provide clear explanations to patients and families about diagnoses, procedures, treatment plans, offer emotional support, advocate for patients’ needs.
Infection Control and Safety: Follow strict infection control protocols (PPE usage), keep ER environment safe and sterile, respond to biohazardous situations.
Crisis Management: Manage a wide range of patient emergencies, staying calm, prioritizing care based on acuity and resources.
Patient Discharge and Follow‑Up: Provide discharge instructions, educate patients on preventive measures and after‑discharge care, coordinate follow‑up appointments or referrals.
Teamwork and Mentorship: Collaborate with ER staff, mentor new nurses, students, less experienced staff members.>
