As the Pharmacist‑In‑Charge, you will report to the Vice President of Operations to establish a top‑tier pharmacy service for the IDD and behavioral health community.
Position Pharmacist in Charge
Location Onsite in our Southern CA facility
Company Tarrytown Expocare Pharmacy – We are a long‑term care pharmacy that provides specialized care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Provide supervision for the pharmacy including overseeing pharmacists, technicians, and a distribution team.
Manage the workflow processes related to order entry, initial review of orders, and daily and cycle‑fill production processes.
Monitor industry, regulatory and compliance developments for pending regulatory changes and work with the pharmacy leadership team to address them.
Communicate and educate staff on pharmacy‑related issues such as regulatory changes/compliance, FDA drug recalls, etc.
Carry out policies and procedures for the procurement, storage, security, and disposition of medications in the pharmacy.
Maintain all required pharmacy and technician licenses and registrations as required by the state.
Work with leadership to respond to the board regarding any warning notice or communication from the state board of pharmacy, DEA, or other regulatory agency.
Perform and maintain records for all controlled substances and controlled substance prescriptions in the pharmacy.
Work with leadership to respond to and resolve all regulatory survey inquiries.
Performs all job duties with a friendly, positive, and team‑oriented approach.
All other duties as assigned by the Tarrytown Expocare leadership team.
Requirements
Must possess an appropriate California State Board of Pharmacy Pharmacist License.
Minimum of five years of pharmacy practice with management experience in long‑term care required.
Minimum 3 years of PIC/pharmacy management experience.
Experience maintaining regulatory compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies.
Experience with pharmacy system conversions is preferred but not required.
Excellent project management, communication, and people/organization skills.
Demonstrated track record of setting and managing team goals / KPIs, ensuring accountability and a performance‑driven culture.
Experience redesigning and simplifying workflow processes to improve efficiency and quality.
Experience with FrameworkLTC is preferred but not required.
Positive personality who can work well within a team.
Ability to function well in a high‑paced and occasionally stressful environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Can de‑escalate and troubleshoot problems within the pharmacy.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to withstand long hours of computer screen time and deskwork.
Must be able to stand or be on feet if needed.
Available for on‑site work and collaboration with other leadership.
