Job Summary The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer II (DCS II) is proficient in providing high-quality cardiac ultrasound images of the heart and great vessels, assessing myocardial function, recording hemodynamic measurements, and visualizing blood flow using 2D, M-mode, color-flow, and spectral Doppler. Responsibilities include performing Stress Echocardiograms, Dobutamine Stress Echo, assisting with Transesophageal Echocardiograms, establishing peripheral intravenous access, administering Ultrasound Enhancing Agents per protocol, retaining and presenting information orally or in writing, and serving as a preceptor to staff and students while managing patient scheduling and workflow.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: GED or graduation from a CAHEP accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer program.
Licensure & Certifications: Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer (or Reg Cardiac Sonographer) through ARDMS or CCI and a second registry (e.g., Registered Vascular Technologist or Certified Pediatric Echocardiography) with at least three years of experience, and Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
Alternatively: Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer or Reg Cardiac Sonager through ARDMS or CCI with five years of experience.
Work Experience
Preferred: Three (3) years of hospital experience with two certifications, or five years of experience with one certification.
Management Experience: Six (6) months of operational management related to patient scheduling and flow.
Job Attributes
Work Schedule: Flexible – Mon‑Fri 7a‑3p, rotating Saturday (6hr shift), off on Sundays, off holidays, no on-call.
Equipment Operated: Various ultrasound and cardiology-related machines.
