Registered Nurse Pre/Postoperative – Western Carolina Surgery Center (Full‑time)
Location:
Fletcher, NC Salary:
$65,000 - $70,000 per year
Preoperative Duties
Conduct thorough patient assessment, recording medical history, vital signs, and current medications.
Educate patients and families on the surgical process, postoperative care, and necessary preparations.
Administer prescribed preoperative medications, including sedatives and antibiotics, per physician orders.
Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols to minimize surgical site infection risk.
Establish and maintain intravenous lines, monitoring fluid and electrolyte balance.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth preoperative preparations.
Postoperative Duties
Provide care in the post‑anesthesia care unit (PACU), monitoring vital signs, pain levels, and overall well‑being.
Advocate for patient comfort and safety, managing pain and addressing immediate postoperative concerns.
Continuously assess patients for complications or adverse reactions, taking prompt action as needed.
Administer postoperative medications, including analgesics and antiemetics, while monitoring their effects.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, documenting all care provided, observations, and patient responses.
Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patients are ready for discharge and provide discharge instructions.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
BLS and ACLS certification required.
Current RN license in the state of North Carolina.
Previous experience in preoperative and postoperative nursing roles.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Team player capable of working collaboratively in a fast‑paced surgical environment.
