Job Description Summary The Manager of Medical Staff Administration works under the direction of the Director of Medical Staff Services/Director of Quality & Outcomes Management and serves as the manager of all Medical Staff programs and operational and support activities. He/She manages and coordinates all programs, operations, and activities of the Medical Staff (including bylaws maintenance and credentialing), and manages and maintains the physician database. This position also supervises the non‑medical personnel of the Medical Staff Administration office.
Responsibilities And Duties 50%: Manages and coordinates programs, operations, and activities of Medical Staff. Maintains bylaws, supervises credentialing process, and keeps custody of Medical Staff checkbook. Bylaws maintenance includes thorough knowledge of RMH Medical Staff bylaws with insight to direct Medical Council / Medical Executive Committee actions. Coordinates and resolves Medical Council / Medical Executive Committee actions requiring convening ad hoc groups of physicians to resolve issues, consulting with legal representation to see appropriate Medical Staff responses, or directing non‑medical staff to research current literature. Supervises credentialing process including oversight of credentialing in administrative process of adding physicians to RMH/GMC medical Staff roster, convening ad hoc physician groups to discuss and resolve issues of cross‑credentialing, providing insight into limiting Medical Staff specialties, and managing reappointment process. Maintains custody of medical Staff checkbook including monthly processing of financial activity related to checkbook, generating bills for annual dues, posting checks for receipt of accounts receivable, developing annual budget for $110,000+ receipts processed, and preparing necessary work papers for annual audit.
30%: Supervises support staff in Medical Staff Administration including annual review, hiring, counseling, coaching, and terminating, if appropriate. Coordinates activities that may include: publication of Medical Staff Committee minutes, compilation of Medical Council / Medical Executive Committee agenda and packet, compilation of other. Provides other guidance in office activities.
20%: Coordinates and supervises database management of Medical Staff and resident databases. Collects appropriate information from all physicians concerning education, employment history, demographics, resident experience, call schedule, coverage physician, etc. Keeps PROF's look‑up file synchronized with physician database. Computerizes credentialing process and resident files.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (Required)
Additional: Business or related field; or five years experience and/or training in office management; or equivalent combination. Outstanding communication skills (both written and oral), typing (60 wpm), word processing, physician credentialing, database management. 5 years as Office Manager in a similar setting.
