This position provides nutrition assessment, nutrition education, breastfeeding education, and counseling, including documenting high risk and medically high-risk care plans, when appropriate, to clients enrolled in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). This position requires independent judgement based on information found in the DHM 150-24 Policy and Procedure Manual for the WIC Program, and in the FL‑WISE (WIC Database System), Clinic Manual, FL‑WiSE Training Manual and Modules, and WiSE Notes. Certifies and recertifies clients for the WIC Program, including nutrition assessment and assignment of nutrition risk factors based upon procedures found in the DHM 150-24 Policy and Procedure Manual. Prescribes WIC food packages for clients, making changes when necessary. Has a working knowledge of the FL‑WiSE system. Provides high risk and medically high-risk nutrition care plans, when appropriate, for clients enrolled in the WIC Program. Documents the high risk or medically high-risk nutrition care plan in FL‑WISE clearly and completely, using Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan (SOAP) method. Provides close follow-up to high risk and medically high-risk clients, ensuring that the required number of high-risk contacts are met. Provides participant-centered nutrition counseling that is pertinent to the needs of the client. Responsible for overseeing direct distribution formula at the Umatilla WIC office. Responsible for the maintenance of spreadsheet with clients receiving direct distribution formula and sending it to the Office Operations Manager I before the end of each month. Conducts a monthly inventory of direct distribution formula, sending to the Office Operations Manager I when complete. Ensures that the formula is available on the benefits start date for WIC clients that are receiving directly distribution formula. Collects and evaluates information from the FL‑WiSE system that can be used for Quality Improvement purposes, including the monthly High‑Risk report. The High‑Risk report is completed and analyzed monthly to ensure that all high risk and medically high-risk clients receive the required number of nutrition education contacts, and that alerts are placed for follow-up appointments with nutrition staff. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the current science and practice of food and nutrition, dietetics, and medical nutrition therapy. Knowledge of the concepts and theories of nutrition or dietetics as it relates to growth, development, health, and disease. Knowledge of nutritional and dietary assessment techniques. Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to interpret anthropometric, biochemical, dietary, and clinical data. Ability to provide nutrition education to others. Demonstrates the ability to develop comprehensive nutritional assessments and individualized nutrition care plans with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and minimizing errors. Ability to provide counseling and/or referral services to promote health and normal nutrition. Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to use a computer, printer, scanner, fax machine, and calculator. Ability to type proficiently. Ability to deal effectively with a variety of people and resolve conflict while providing outstanding customer service. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Qualifications

Minimum: Must be licensed as a dietitian/nutritionist in accordance with Chapter 468, Part X, Florida Statutes, or be eligible to practice dietetics in accordance with Chapter 64B8‑45, Florida Administrative Code. Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man‑made or natural. Willing to travel to different WIC sites in Lake County Preferred: Currently have a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university in nutrition science, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition. An official transcript is needed or verifiable documentation for equivalent work experience to confirm your qualifications for this position. Work experience performing Nutrition Educator duties in a health care setting. Work experience certifying or recertifying clients in a WIC program. Work experience providing training to staff or co‑workers. Experience speaking, writing and reading the Spanish language. Benefits
