Physical Therapy Assistant - Inpatient - Per Diem Join the growing Beth Israel Lahey Health team. As a Physical Therapy Assistant in our acute care setting, you will work side‑by‑side with expert physical therapists, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver compassionate, evidence‑based care to patients recovering from trauma, surgery, neurological events, and complex medical conditions.

Per Diem Minimum 2 weekend days per month required Coverage for weekdays and weekends

Implement rehabilitative programs that improve or restore physical function, alleviate pain, and prevent dysfunction in patients with impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function due to injury, disease, or other causes.

Job Description Under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist and working within their scope of practice as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Physical Therapy Assistant implements rehabilitative programs that improve or restore physical function, alleviate pain and prevent dysfunction in patients with impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status from injury, disease, or other causes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Safely and effectively implements the treatment intervention. Applies sound clinical judgment and skill.

Engages a high degree of patient motivation and cooperation in treatment, as evidenced by patient compliance with treatment intervention.

Provides patient/family education during therapy and prepares them for discharge.

Thoroughly and accurately maintains all medical record documentation in accordance with department policy.

Documents daily treatment notes in the medical record according to the standards defined in department policy and procedure.

Meets department standards for productivity. Delegates tasks to support staff when appropriate. Completes daily statistics in accordance with department policy.

Attends internal and external educational programs and reads professional journals to maintain and enhance PTA skills and clinical outcomes.

Shares knowledge and skills with co‑workers.

Maintains strict adherence to the Lahey Clinic Confidentiality Policy and complies with all Lahey Clinic policies.

Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

Active MA Physical Therapy Assistant License.

At least one year of experience typically gained in a healthcare or related environment.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Knowledge of Physical Therapy Assistant theory and practice.

Ability to observe and record symptoms, reactions and progress.

Skilled in critical judgment and critical thinking.

Effective communication of medical information, test results, diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in an easily understood manner.

Proficient in the use of a PC and a variety of electronic systems used for scheduling, data collection, reporting, communication, and other relevant activities.

Knowledge of range of therapy methods and techniques.

Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.

Ability to use independent judgment and manage confidential information.

Pay Range $30.20 - $40.65 per hour. Pay may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices.
