Position Overview
The Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Practitioner who is accountable for a "defined" patient population. Functions in the roles of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, patient advocate, care coordinator and researcher within a specialized area of practice. Possesses and exhibits a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in the provision of health care directly to the patient, family or community, or indirectly through guidance of care by other professional personnel. Provision of patient care is conducted and performed utilizing the medical model within the scope of licensure and in accordance with applicable law, regulations, and in accordance with VCH policies. Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to hospital needs. Upon acceptance of an offer of employment and prior to providing patient care, candidate must submit Scope of Practice and all information for credentialing, to the Medical Staff office, Hospital Interdisciplinary Professional Practice Council.

Our family-centered, pediatric services extend from a leading pediatric cancer and blood disorders center home on the West Coast, and a pediatric heart center known for its expertise and pioneering treatments, to a Regional Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the highest level referral centre between Los Angeles and the Bay Area. Experience
Minimum three (3) years related experience required
Experience in pediatrics and/or clinic setting a plus
Bilingual skills desirable
Education/Licenses/Certifications
Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program and Master’s degree in nursing required
BLS – Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
Active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN) required
Active California Nurse Practitioner license (NP) required – Must successfully complete the credentialing process through the Medical Staff office via CIDP for the appropriate scope of practice, written standardized protocols and furnishing privileges
NP-C - Nurse Practitioner Natl Certification - National certification from an accredited certifying board required within 6 months or hire or transfer into position
